
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 71
(By Delegates Border, Azinger, Anderson and Modesitt)
Requesting the Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of
Highways to rename that certain bridge which crosses Little
Kanawha River on East Street in the City of Parkersburg,
commonly known as the East Street Bridge, as the "William P.
A. Nicely Memorial Bridge."
Whereas, William P.A. Nicely is recognized for his life-long
contributions to the citizens of Wood County and the citizens of
West Virginia; and
Whereas,
William P.A. Nicely served as a three-term Mayor of
the City of Parkersburg and member of the West Virginia House of
Delegates; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of
Highways is hereby requested to designate that certain bridge
located in Wood County and spanning Little Kanawha River on East
Street in the City of Parkersburg, now known as the "East Street
Bridge," as the "William P.A. Nicely Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner is requested to have
made and be placed, at either end of the bridge, signs identifying the bridge as the "William P.A. Nicely Memorial Bridge."
